Family Support Division

May 15 - Meet the Franklin/Hampshire DMR Area Office Staff Night hosted by the GAAAFSN Family Advisory Board, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Desmond Callan Community Health Center, 450 West River Street, Orange, MA 01364.  Families and individuals are encouraged to attend this event to hear a presentation by Franklin/Hampshire Area Office Director Dr. William Zimmer, and to participate in a question & answer session with Dr. Zimmer and Area Office staff.  Light refreshments will be served.  Call the GAAAFSN office to reserve your seat(s) by Friday, May 9, 2008.

Community Resources for People with Autism

May 2 - 4th Annual Berkshire Dinner Dance beginning with Dinner at 7:00 p.m., and dancing until 12:00 a.m., at Berkshire Hills Country Club, 500 Benedict Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201.  For more information contact Megan Sherman at (413) 433-4780.

May 15 - Strategies for Effective Advocacy from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Community Resources for People with Autism, 116 Pleasant Street, Suite 366, Easthampton, MA 01027. Speaking will be Laurel Peltier, Educational Advocate; Susan Hackney, Mediator, and Jeanne Troxell Munson. This interactive workshop will focus on communication skill building and conflict resolution for parents as members of their child’s IEP team through role-playing and one-on-one advice from the panel of speakers.
